Die Casting Process Overview
#

Die casting involves injecting molten metal—typically aluminum, zinc, or magnesium—under high pressure into a reusable mold. The metal cools and solidifies, resulting in precise, complex parts with excellent surface finish. This process is cost-effective for large production runs and offers significant design flexibility, though it may not be suitable for extremely large or highly intricate parts.

Hot Chamber Process (Zinc and Magnesium)
#

The hot chamber process is commonly used for metals with low melting points, such as zinc and magnesium alloys. Here, the casting vessel is immersed directly in the molten metal, which is then forced into the die through a swan-neck-shaped nozzle.

Cold Chamber Process (Aluminum)
#

For alloys with higher melting points, such as aluminum, the cold chamber process is used. The casting set is located outside the molten metal, and the material is fed from an external melt pot to the injection cover, where a hydraulic piston injects the metal into the mold.

Surface Treatment Options
#

At DMS, we recognize the importance of component refinement, appearance, and protection against wear and corrosion. Our surface treatment solutions enhance the aesthetics, durability, and functionality of every part we manufacture. Available treatments include:

  • Sandblasting
  • Paint
  • Anodizing
  • Powder Coating
  • Electroless Nickel
  • Galvanizing
  • Passivation
  • Chromate
